PILATES INSTRUCTION
Private and Semi-Private Pilates Classes with
Chiara Mangiameli, Certified Instructor
Beginner to Advanced
**Discounts for FAC members!**
More then just a form of exercise, Pilates is a physical discipline comprised of nine fundamental principles:Concentration, Control (over body and mind),
Centering
(working from the body’s core), Breathing, Postural alignment,
Flow
(moving with grace), Precision, Stamina, and Relaxation.

Over time, the application of these concepts allows one’s body to unlock bad postural habits and points of tension, gain flexibility and most importantly, build strength and support from the inside out.
Joseph Pilates began forming his series of exercises and principles (known as Contrology), as a tool to rehabilitate soldiers after WWI. Shortly thereafter, it was embraced by the dance community as a way to build strength without bulk, and prevent injuries.
Pilates has been a wonderful complement in my own dance training, improving my coordination, stamina and making me more aware of how my own body moves through space.
All sessions take place at my home studio just west of Logan Square, where I instruct on Pilates apparatus (the reformer, and wunda chair), as well as mat exercises with various props (ball, bands etc.)
